After months of research, we have chosen a Dyno that we consider to be the industry gold standard; the Dynamics Lowboy 450. This 'Dyno' has impressed us as much as it has its designers, Dyno Dynamics of Austalia.
Dyno Dynamics have done a great job in the production and design of our specially imported 4WD dynamometer. It is capable of handling a vehicle with a power output of up to a staggering 2500 hp.
A key characteristic which sets it apart from others you may have
encountered, is that it's purpose built to handle, not only 2WD vehicles, but all of the recently introduced 'intelligent' 4WD/AWD vehicles from Europe. It has also proven itself on the new 4WD rally-bred imports like the from Japan. This dyno is not just two 2WD units put together, but is electronically integrated to safeguard that expensive center differential.
Of course, most of you are just interested in getting more horses to the wheels, but for those of you who just have to know how it all works:
"The process derives from the method of applying the load to the wheel rollers. Unlike inertia dyno’s which use the weight of heavy rollers as a load against vehicle traction, this dyno uses electronically variable eddy current loads, allowing constant speed and even selectable negative ramp rates. Making this Dyno unique in its flexibility."
